Plastic Fantastic

I love lace and sheer fabrics, but plastic pieces are taking the see-through trend to a whole new level of fun this spring. Obviously you can’t wear a cellophane-like skirt out of the house unless you are Lady Gaga, but plastic accessories are a very realistic way to wear this playful trend.  You can even get away with a plastic coat, or a top with a bandeau underneath.

Foilded Again!

Foil is no longer just for wrapping up the left overs and dying your hair. It’s a fashion trend, and it was sported on spring’s runways in a variety of ways. In beauty and in fashion, silver is making a statement.

Maybe you can’t glue silver foil to your eyelids like at Fendi. Instead, use a cream silver shadow to make your eyes shine. You can also paint your nails in some eye-catching chrome colors like Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Fast Nail Color in Silver Sweep.

At Giles, Alexander McQueen, Diesel Black Gold, Julien Macdonald and Christopher Kane, models were decked in tinsel tones. If you aren’t brave enough to wear a silver skirt or pants just yet, why not start small? Alexander Wang’s Devere metallic leather shoulder bag or Topshop’s Podium cross over platform sandals are a great way to get on board.

Royal Watching

This is what art looks like. From creative geniuses Chris Nichols and Fiona Green, here is one of my favourite editorials in some time. It was featured in FLARE’s December issue and showcases a decadent wardrobe on knock-out newcomers Dani, Finlay Moore and Emily Fox.  This shoot is definitely going to win some awards.

Spring Trend Watch

Draw some attention to fashions latest erogenous zone: the neck. Collars adorned with studs, sequins and beads are currently being coveted. Attached to your button up, or portably placed on top of your outfit, an eye catching collar is a necessity for the season to come.

Dark Angel

This spring and summer bright lips in fun colours like orange and hot pink were everywhere. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love this beauty trend, but I am ready for something new. My go to fall lip color? A wine or dark berry coloured hue. If you are looking for some inspiration, check out the runways of Gucci, Missoni and Lela Rose.  To create the look, try M.A.C. Cremesheen Lipstick in Hang-up, Relvon Matte Lipstick in Wine Not or Tom Ford Private Blend Lipcolor in Black Orchid.

Dial M for Mila

In this shoot by Robert Erdmann for Glamour UK's September 2011 issue, Mila Kunis plays a Sixties inspired sex kitten. Bedroom eyes and a Bardot-esque half-up do make the already gorgeous Mila even more seductive.

Glitter Moon Mani

I am not really the biggest fan of the traditional pink and white French manicure, so I like to put my own spin on it. A reverse French with accented moons at the bottom is always a nice alternative, and no more difficult to create.

You will need:
-French manicure strips (available at any drugstore)
-Two (or one) nail polish colours
-Clear nail topcoat

Step 1: Paint your nails any color, you can even skip this step and leave them with out polish if you like. I chose to use pink, because I am a sucker for it.
Step 2: Use French manicure strip and stick them a little bit above the bottom of your nails.
Step 3: Paint below the stickers with a second polish color. Maybe some glitter? Then let them dry for about five minutes before removing the stickers.
Step 4: Paint a clear top coat over top over your nails, and let it dry. Ta-da! Now you have pretty nails. Time to paint the town.
